Social Emotional Learning (SEL) 2026–2027

This year, our school counselor, Ms. Despres, will continue supporting students through Social Emotional Learning (SEL) lessons, small groups, and individual check-ins.

At the Lower Campus, Ms. Despres will provide weekly SEL lessons for students in Kindergarten through 2nd grade on Tuesdays.

At the Upper Campus, Ms. Despres will be available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursday mornings. She will visit 3rd-grade classrooms monthly for SEL lessons and facilitate monthly small groups for students in 4th, 6th, and 7th grades.

As always, students in grades 3–8 are welcome to complete a self-referral form to request an individual check-in with Ms. Despres.

Throughout the school year, students will explore four main SEL units:

●      Growth Mindset & Goal Setting – Learning to focus attention, manage distractions, develop a growth mindset, and set and work toward personal goals.

●      Emotion Management – Identifying and labeling emotions and practicing healthy strategies to manage feelings.

●      Empathy & Kindness – Recognizing and demonstrating kindness, developing empathy, and learning to understand others’ perspectives.

●      Problem-Solving – Learning to identify and communicate problems, distinguish between accidents and intentional actions, and use a step-by-step process to work through challenges.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. Thank you for your continued support as we work together to foster a caring, connected, and supportive school community!
