Chicks Hatching

We began the Easter Season with a special delivery from the Poultry Farm. Three dozen fertilized eggs were delivered to our school and the eggs were divided up among the preschoolers, kindergarteners and fourth graders.

The eggs were put in three different incubators with temperature and humidity closely monitored. Although we could not see all the growth inside the eggs, the students enjoyed counting days and following the growth chart each day. After a 21 incubation period, the baby chicks were ready to hatch!

There was great excitement as these tiny little wet chicks pecked their way out of their shells. We observed them in the incubator until they were fully dry and then moved the baby chicks to their Brooder Box. It is amazing to watch the chicks grow and change each day!

The students had a chance to pet, hold and observe them eating and drinking. Springtime is full of so many beautiful gifts from God. The baby chicks remind us of the miracles all around us!

May Crowning

At the Lower Campus on May 18, K-2 students honored our Blessed Mother through May Crowning after our weekly Wednesday Mass. May Crowning is a traditional Catholic ritual during the month of May that honors Mary as the Queen of Heaven. The second graders were able to wear their First Communion attire or their Sunday Best on this special day. Each 2nd grader processed from the back of the church to the front where they gave Mary a tulip flower. Lastly, Finely Z. and Waylon S. crowned Mary together.

The Upper Campus had their own May crowning, led by the 8th graders and Monsignor Hankiewicz earlier this month.

May Mary be our intercessor as we finish the last month of school together! Mary, Queen of Heaven, pray for us!

ASA's Golden Tickets

Monday, May 2nd - Friday, May 6th is a national celebration of Teacher Appreciation Week! At ASA, Home and School finds ways to celebrate all of the staff in our community this week.

This year's theme is Willy Wonka! Our staff is truly the golden ticket to imagination and adventure at ASA. Home and School has provided fun themed goodies for our staff throughout the week: Monday was chocolate bars from Augustus Gloop. Tuesday was mini blueberry muffins from Violet Beauregarde. And today was golden eggs with a lottery ticket inside from Veruca Salt.

We also have had a daily golden ticket drawing for a $25 Meijer gift card! You can watch Willy Wonka draw the winner daily on our Instagram and Facebook page.

We are truly grateful for all the staff members at ASA and their dedication to helping our students learn and become who God created them to be! If you haven't already, make sure to send a note of gratitude to your favorite ASA staff members!
